Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How is this symposium different than ASTA, MTNA, Suzuki, etc?

A. Firstly, this symposium is directed only at violin pedagogy only. Secondly, we are limiting the number of participants to under 80, which will help make everyone's voices heard and the symposium won't feel overcrowded.

Q. Are any meals or events included in the Symposium tuition?

A. No, the tuition is for every lecture and Symposium event.

Q. Are advanced high schoolers welcome to attend? It says "college" under student on the tuition page.

A. Elizabeth will consider late high schoolers who are showing an interest in teaching and are mature enough to attend a conference with professionals. Please contact her at before registering.

Q. I'm bringing my family for a NYC adventure. Can my kids come to the symposium?

A. No, unfortunately, the Symposium is for teachers only.

Q. I'd like to bring my students! Is that possible?

A. No students are allowed to come. This is a safe space for teachers :) There will be an audition for a masterclass given by Elizabeth. Details for that will be announced at a later time.

Q. Can we stay somewhere besides the Westin?

A. Yes, but Elizabeth highly encourages the Westin as everyone's home base!

Q. Does the group discount from the Westin work for extra nights? We are staying in NYC for 5 nights.

A. Yes. They will honor the group rate based on rates and availability. We will do our best but it is not guaranteed. RESERVE EARLY!

Q. I need to called the Westin to ask a few questions. What do I ask for?

A. The "Elizabeth Faidley Studio Violin Symposium"

Q. Where should we fly into?

A. LGA is the closest airport but JFK and EWR are also choices.

Q. What should I bring?

A. The conference is informal and comfortable. Please bring your violin for a few different lectures, and Suzuki books 1-4. Elizabeth will provide a packet with more information at the conference.

Q: Will we be able to attend every lecture?

A: YES, due to the size and organization of the symposium, everyone will be able to attend every single event.
